Horseshoe Crab

Image of Horseshoe Crab

Horseshoe crabs were a common sight on East and Gulf coast beaches, but are steadily becoming harder to find. These ancient arthropods have been around for at least 2 million years, and scientists hope they can continue through the changing environment. This bead is handmade glass and was sculpted by me at a blowtorch in my studio.

Bead dimensions are 3.5 cm x 2 cm and 2.3cm at its highest point. Bead hole is vertical for threading on a necklace or head pin.

All of my beads are cleaned of bead release and kiln annealed for added durability.
